Former national sprint queen Vaciseva Tavaga was inducted into the 2015 Fiji Hall of Fame at the Grand Pacific Hotel last night.

Tavaga made her debut in the 1989 South Pacific Mini Games winning a bronze medal in the 100metres and silver in the 200m. She also participated in the 1990 Oceania Championships and won three bronze medals in 100m, 4x100m and 4x400m relay.

From 1991 to 1995 Tavaga was the region’s sprint queen winning gold at every regional meet including both Pacific and Oceania competitions in the 100m and 200m events. Her personal best for 100m was 11.6sec and 24.07 in the 200m.

For her achievements, Tavaga was recognised by winning the Sportswoman of the Year award in 1991 and 1995. Today she is still involved in sports and works as a gym and fitness instructor giving back and helping others maintain physical fitness.
