Muslim Schools Enjoy The Day

The Southern Muslim Schools sports tournament held yesterday was a success.
Tournament organiser Mohammed Taiyas Hussain said they were happy to revive the tournament after three years at Nasinu Muslim Primary School
“The fact that we have finally been able to have such a tournament after three years and it being successful is something that we have been waiting for a long time,” Hussain said.
“This is a tournament that brings the four Muslim primary schools together because we usually do not have any competitions.”
Nasinu Muslim Primary, Makoi Muslim Primary, Suva Muslim Primary and Waidra Muslim Primary all took part in netball and football.
Hussain said the reason why they have not had the tournament in so long was due to financial constraints.
“We have not had the right resources to keep the tournament running but now with the Ministry of Educations help, we are finally able to get the tournament back up and running,” he said.
“Healthy competitions among the children are important because it not only promotes healthy living but also helps develop them in whichever sports they love playing.
“We were able to set up teams and also buy uniforms for the kids and also equipments to help make this tournament possible.
“We had a total of 300 people who showed up at the tournament which was a good number and I am positive they enjoyed what these kids had to offer out on the field.”
