The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) is looking at expanding the rehabilitation programmes that inmates undergo while serving their sentences.
This was highlighted by Corrections Commissioner, Lieutenant-Colonel Ifereimi Vasu during the Media Morning Walk at the Naboro Corrections Complex yesterday.
“With the announcement of the 2016 Budget, we hope to extend the small business units in FCS because we have witnessed over the years that it has brought about positive development to our inmates and our country as well,” Lieutenant-Colonel Vasu said.
Media personnel walked through the hills of Naboro to witness FCS agricultural projects where some inmates are involved in the small business projects as a form of rehabilitation and business skills which they take with them when they are released.
The initiative is part of the Yellow Ribbon Programme.
