The Vodafone Fijian 7s team is grouped in Pool A with Japan, Canada and Argentina for the Dubai 7s on December 4-5.

Defending champions South Africa tops Pool B alongside Scotland, Samoa and newly-promoted Russia. Twelve-time series champions New Zealand face USA, France and Portugal in Pool C while in Pool D, the fourth-ranked side in last year’s series England faces Australia, Wales and Kenya.

Vodafone Fijian head coach Ben Ryan earlier stated he expects positive outcomes in Dubai next month as he prepares his side for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

“We want good start in Dubai but that’s not my priority but my plan is to get my squad ready in 9-10 months. We are currently world Number One and you don’t want to relinquish that at the end of that Dubai tournament; it will be great if we finish winning in Dubai,” Ryan said.

Women

The Telecom Fijiana side will face Canada, USA and Ireland in Pool B of the women’s competition.

Defending champions New Zealand will face France, Russia and Brazil in Pool A while Australia leads pool C and will face England, Spain and newcomers Japan.

Head coach Chris Cracknell earlier said they will focus on themselves.

“We have decided not to focus on our oppositions but on us and we will play our style of rugby,” Cracknell said.
