The Fiji Bitter Wairiki Parish 7s Rugby, netball and mixed volleyball tournament would be held at Wairiki,Taveuni on November 26-28.

“We are hoping to have 32 rugby teams, 20 netball teams, 25 U-19 teams and 10 Golden Oldies teams,” tournament organiser Jone Vuki said.

“We’ve registered 28 teams for rugby, two for netball and 18 teams for U-19.

“We have two teams coming from Ovalau, Trail Blazers from Suva, three from Marist Rugby Club and most of the teams are from Vanua Levu.”

Also during this three-day tournament there would be night programme.

“This tournament is a major event in the island bringing people from all over Fiji to participate and enjoy the programme that we provide,” Vuki said.

“We are very happy that through this tournament we have been able to improve the Wairiki ground.

“Our future plan is to reclaim the foreshore at Wairiki to create sports recreation activities, gym and children’s park.

“To make our plan happen we need everyone’s support.

“We’ve prepared 40 food stalls and we will give a prize for the best decorated stall.”

Teams participating in U-19 to bring their ID card for verification.
