It was a historic moment for the Kavanagasu Sanatan Dharm School in Navosa last night after the Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum attended their prizegiving.

School headteacher Avinesh Ram, while welcoming the A-G, said it was first time for a government minister to visit the school.

It is in the interior of Navosa.

“I am honoured to say that we are so thankful to have the A-G grace our ceremony today and this is only possible through this Government,” Mr Ram said.

“This shows that Government’s commitment in leading the country and in the importance of education for our children.”

The school has 63 students.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum told the staff, students and parents  that no school is big or small no matter the roll.

“A school consisting of 63 students is no different to any big school in Suva,” he said.

He said that was because education was important and it was for everyone to benefit from the free education scheme that Government was offering.
