Board Calls a Meeting for Directors of Security Companies in the North

The Security Industry of Fiji will be having one day meeting with all the directors of security companies in Labasa tomorrow at the Labasa Civic Centre.

Chairman of the industry and board member of Security Licensing Board, Vili Raqio, said he would be informing the directors about the new decree and law in the security industry coming up.

“I would also discuss about the new pay rate for security officers,” Mr Raqio said.

He said security officers should be paid $2.51 per hour.

However, there are some companies in Macuata Province that pay their employees below the half rate.

“Those companies that do not pay their employees the allocated rate or do not adhere to the law of security industry, would be taken to task,” Mr Raqio said.

“The Security Licensing Board has the authority to close the company or take the company to court.”

There are fewer than 10 security companies in Vanua Levu.

Mr Raqio said his meeting with the directors was very important and he had called all security companies in Vanua Levu to attend.
