The Fiji Swimming schools team presented their iTatau to President Jioji Konousi Konrote at Government House yesterday. The 49-member team departs for Adelaide, Australia on Thursday to take part in the 2015 Pacific School Games.

Konrote expressed his delight that the team carried out the traditional ceremony.

“On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister and the rest of the nation,  I would like to express my humble gratitude and thanks for the traditional ceremony,” he said.

“I would like to commend and thank you in the way that you seek blessings from the land, Government and church, may God be with you and help you bring back as many gold medals as you can.”

As this will be the first time most of the swimmers take part in such a prestigious event, President Konrote said they can do nothing but their best and grow from this experience.

“My advice to you is to listen to your coaches and teachers as they will be the ones who have been looking out for you,” he said.

“As I sit here and look at you, you are the future of our nation, you are the youths of today and you have a long way to go.

“Look after one another; I have no doubt that you all will do your very best.

“Those of us who will be staying behind will be following your progress and our prayers are with you.

The 2015 Pacific School Games will be held at the Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Oaklands Park, Adelaide.
