A Government delegation led by the President Jioji Konrote attended the condolence service at the French Ambassador’s residence in Suva for the Paris terror attacks.
Mr Konrote also laid a wreath during the service to commemorate the lives of those lost and injured in the attacks in Paris, France, last Saturday morning.
Also present at the service was the Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, Minister for Foreign Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, former President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa, senior Government officials and members of the diplomatic corps.
French Ambassador to Fiji Michel Djokovic said although Paris was wounded they would be strong to ensure that all its international commitments happened as planned.
“In particular, the fourth France-Oceania summit and the COP21 will still take place, in Paris, with an even reinforced security,” Mr Djokovic said.
He also expressed his appreciation to the support shown by the Government and members of the diplomatic corps during this difficult time.
