‘Determined’ Ali Scoops 7

Suva Muslim College student challenges all Fijian girls
Academic excellence should be an ambition of every young girl, says Faaizah Nabeelah Ali, 15, relayed to young girls like her who wants to pursue a successful future.
Faaizah said this could only happen with sacrifice, determination, hard work and perseverance.
She scooped seven awards during the Suva Muslim College graduation yesterday – Year 10 English, Mathematics, Social Science, Basic Science, Commercial Studies, Home Economics, and the Year 10 Excellence Award
“Every girl has the ability to become something in their society, but the onus is on them on how they prioritise the important things in their lives,” she said.
“I believe in education because it is an institution that will build a person towards something he or she wants to become in life.
“I have always priotise education above everything in my life apart from God. Those are the values that will one day take me somewhere I had never dreamt of achieving.
“I have sacrificed many things to achieve the best academically and I even have to give up some of the things I love for my studies. I believe if we want to achieve something in life, we can’t be dividing our mind on two things because it will distract us.”
She hopes to become a pilot next year or join her father in running their family business.
“Nothing is impossible if we are determined to fight the odds and achieve our ambitions,” she said.
