Paul Lin is ready to face the challenges this weekend during the Junior Championship.

The 17-year-old former Yat Sen Secondary School student said he doesn’t consider himself a good player but will work hard towards achieving good results.

“I started to learn the sport back in Year Nine when I heard that our school had a team for the sport so I worked hard to be in the team.

“Since then, I have taken part in a few tournaments. Now, for this tournament, I’m not really expecting myself to win it, but I expect much competition from other players,” Lin said.

Fiji Badminton Association vice-president Dr Alvin De Asa said this would be their last tournament for the year.

“We have secured a number of sponsors like DHL, Shop N Save Supermarket, Courts, Tappoo Home and Leisure and Sports World.

“We are expecting at least 50 junior players to take part with these players playing in the U19, U16 and U12 age groups.

“Most players will be from schools like Yat Sen primary and secondary, International school and Natabua High School from the West.”

Defending U19 boys champion and International Secondary School student Aninda Saha will not be defending his title because of exam commitments.

The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9am at the Yat Sen School Hall this Saturday.
