The amount of $1.8million has been allocated in the 2016 Budget for the development of the planned township at Nabouwalu in Bua.

The Ministry of Local Government, Housing and Environment, Infrastructure and Transport have issued a five-year development plan for the Nabouwalu township.

This was highlighted by the ministry’s rep, Manasa Tuilau, at the Bua Provincial Council meeting yesterday at Naulumatua House in Nabouwalu.

“We’ve had meetings (bose) with members of the Yavusa Daviko in the village of Navave in Nabouwalu with Government officials from the provincial administrator’s office and iTaukei Lands Trust Board(TLTB),” Mr Tuilau said.

He said the survey to determine the boundaries of the new town would be finalised before the end of this year,.

“We have already given survey instructions to the surveyors to cadastral survey solutions to the TLTB. “The provincial office have also requested for a ground in Nabouwalu with a piece of land identified.”

He said after works from the surveyor, than the zonings will be discussed with TLTB.

“This includes engineering plans for drinking water, roads, fire hydrants and other important needs in the town.

“After the engineering plans are agreed then civil works starts at the end of the year,” he said.
