Nadroga-Navosa won their first gold medal at the FMF Chow Games yesterday.

Twelve-year-old Semaema Tabua clocked 5:.23.43minutes to win gold in the 1500 metres while Varanisese Kauta of Ra took silver and Luisa Maria of Macuata the bronze medal.

“I am happy as I was training all along to win gold and I would like to thank God for giving me the strength,” Tabua said.

Team official Epeli Qativi said the success was a result of hard work, sacrifice and dedication.

“Even though we didn’t get the best training centre,  we managed to do well. And we’re proud of the performance as they were training at Lawaqa Park and at the sand dunes,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the boys category Sitiveni Nadurucoko of Ra took out the boys Under-12 gold medal clocking 4:52.52.

“I am happy and I applaud our teachers for their sacrifice,” he said.
