Shimran Sharma of Manoca, Nausori, yesterday continued the family legacy in the Fiji LDS Church College graduation history.

She became the second member of her family to be named the college’s Valedictorian or the dux of   2015.

It is awarded to the student with the highest mark.

Miss Sharma, 18, said: “I remember five years ago when my elder brother also received the same award right here in this school. I sat among the crowd with admiration towards his achievements which motivated me then to work hard and receive the same award.

“I brought back the happiness that we felt five years ago as a family and I will work even harder to get more awards like this in the future,” she said.

She thanked her elder brother for setting a good example for her to follow.

“I thank the Almighty for his blessings and my parents who worked so hard to get me to school. They always encourage me to concentrate on my studies and their sacrifice means the world to me.

“I have worked hard to achieve this award and I thank my teachers for their continuous support and advice that brought me this far,” she said.

Shimran dreams of becoming a doctor.

“I still have a long way to go, but before I journey towards my future career; I will firstly go on my mission in serving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,” she said.
