Close win for champs Suva

The Suva Blues defended the boys title at the end of the two-day FMF Chow Games at the ANZ Stadium, yesterday.
Suva Blues finished with 10 gold, 9 silver and 4 bronze medals ahead of Nadroga-Navosa’s 8 gold, 11 silver and 5 bronze medals.
Suva Blues head coach Owen Ratumaimuri applauded the effort.
“We are happy with what we have achieved and kudos to Nadroga Navosa for taking out the girls division,” Ratumaimuri said.
“We are happy that our athletes were exposed to high level competition because 70 per cent of our athletes are participating for the first time. Not only did we want to come out here to win, we also wanted to give our athletes the exposure and experience they need.
“We will be grooming these athletes for next year’s Chow Games and we have got off to a good start.
“If we want to be up there again next year, preparation starts now.
“But regardless of the results, we are happy we retained the boy’s title and I happy and proud of what the athletes achieved because it was not an easy two days.
“All I can say is that we will be coming back stronger next year.”
