First Win for Nadroga-Navosa

Nadroga-Navosa won the girls division for the first time at the end of the two-day FMF Chow Games held at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
Nadroga-Navosa finished with 13 gold, 12 silver and five bronze medals ahead of Suva Blues’ 10 gold, seven silver and five bronze medals.
This was a long-time coming for Nadroga-Navosa and manager Adam Taylor was overjoyed with the final results.
“At every Chow Games event, we strive to be the best that we can and to match the level that Suva brings to the competition every year,” Taylor said.
“So all our hard work and preparation has really paid off and this is something that our athletes truly deserve after a gruelling days of competition.”
Taylor said the victory was the result of a four- year build-up and they will strive to keep the momentum.
“We have more than 60 schools representing Nadroga-Navosa and came into this year’s Chow Games with two main objectives,” he said.
“Back in 2011 we finished second overall behind Suva and we vowed from there to work hard and make a comeback, so this has been a four year build-up to reach this very moment.
“We took our preparations one step at a time and our divisional competitions are what helped us a lot because it gave us the very athletes who have been taking part for the past two days to bring glory to Nadroga-Navosa.
“We want to keep this momentum for next year and work even harder to retain the girl’s category and aim for the boys division.
“We want to thank the organisers of the Chow Games for putting on such a great event which not only brings the whole of Fiji together but also to make it clear that talent is not only in the capital, it is also in the rural areas.
