It was a proud moment for Suva Blues sprinter Lasarusa Senibale who won gold in the Under-13 Boys 100metres final yesterday at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

The 13-year-old from Marist Brothers Primary School was the outright winner after the race was re-run due to a technical hiccup.

“I was happy that I won the race but when I was told that we had to run again I was a bit surprised and confused,” Senibale said.

“I had given my all in the first race and knowing that I had to run again was something I was not planning.

“I am happy and excited to be able win some medals for Suva.”

Meanwhile, U13 Girls 100m champion Leilani Vatubua was happy with her performance but knows there was still a lot of work to be done.

“I won the 100metres because it is something that I have been training really hard for,” Vatubua said.

She plans to attend St Joseph Secondary School.
