Visiting Eye Specialists Thanked By Acting PM

Experts vow to continue services here
Acting Prime Minister, Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed – Khaiyum yesterday thanked a group of eye specialists from the Hawaiian Eye Foundation currently carrying out optical consultations and surgeries in Ba.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum visited the team at the Ba Vision Clinic to acknowledge their efforts in restoring eyesight for Fijians living along the Lautoka – Tavua corridor.
The group is in the country strengthening its partnership with Ba Vision, a clinic specialising in optical consultations. Hawaiian Eye Foundation president Dr John Corboy said the foundation would continue to assist Fijians.
“We are happy to come to Fiji and this is a continuation of our strong relationship with Ba Vision and we are always available to assist and help our fellow Fijians and if we are able to improve their vision, we are blessed,” Dr Corboy said.
“We had a good chat with the Attorney-General and we are happy to work with Government in improving medical services and we will be willing to assist wherever we are able to.”
The team had already completed over 100 eye surgeries since they arrived earlier this week.
Mr Sayed – Khaiyum said all Fijians acknowledged the assistance rendered through close relationships built through such exchanges. He said Government would assist the Ba Vision Clinic and all other such like charities to access all professionals they require to carry out their services.
“At the moment, it appears that some of the administrative and bureaucratic impediments are being put by various agencies, which is stopping such organisations and Fijians from accessing professional medical services,” the A-G said.
