Timoci Vunimoku, of Naimalovau, Tailevu, yesterday wished his father was alive.

Mr Vunimoku was named the Most Progressive Student of the Year during the Chevalier Training Centre graduation at Wainadoi.

The 20-year-old wanted to celebrate the feat with his father.

“I wish my father was here to celebrate my first ever achievement, but I am glad that my mother is here to witness my hard work.

“My father died when I was four years old and seeing other boys here with their father makes me sad because I miss having a dad,” he said.

Timoci said he worked hard throughout the year because he wanted to earn a job and help his family.
