The dormitories and kitchen at Chevalier Training Centre (CTC) at Wainidoi have been repainted to offer better services to students.

The new look facilities, after three weeks of work, were handed-over by Bank South Pacific general manager Retail Banking Ravindra Singh last Saturday.

Mr Singh said they received a request for help from the centre in March.

“It was brought to our attention that since the school’s establishment in 1992, CTC helped to break the cycle of poverty. It has helped and trained a lot of young men from underprivileged families to gain trade skills in automotive engineering, carpentry, cabinetmaking, welding and fabrication and farm management,” he said.

The centre provides a two-year training course.

“These dormitories have never been repainted or renovated since they were built until today.”

CTC’s Father Simon Mani said: “The centre conducts training, not only in trade skills, but also in helping young men’s pastoral, psychological and human development aspects of their life.

“The much needed assistance from the Bank South Pacific couldn’t have come at a better time and I am confident the Fiji Higher Education will take this development into consideration when we apply for full registration next year,” he said.
