Kadavu Trip For New Police Head

Qiliho will thank villagers for helping arrest  escapee.

The acting Commissioner of Police, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho leaving for his first official trip to Kadavu, during his term in office tomorrow.

Brigadier-General Qiliho, will present certificates of commendation to Dravuwalu villagers who assisted Police in the arrest of Sakiusa Basa in September.

Basa who was wanted Police for various offences, escaped from the Nasinu Magistrates Court on August 17.

He was apprehended in Kadavu after assistance from some Dravuwalu villagers.

Upon his arrest, Police also found 600 plants believed to be marijuana in his possession.

Brigadier-General Qiliho will be accompanied by the Police Chief Operations Officer (COO), Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rusiate Tudravu.

ACP Tudravu said the certificates were to acknowledge the villagers for assisting Police.

“This is to also show how much we value their contribution,” ACP Tudravu said.

He said they would also meet Police officers based  in Kadavu.
