Semi Naivalurua, 14, aims to be a Flying Fijian in future.

This was after he was awarded the Sportsman of the Year Award during the Stella Maris Primary School annual prizegiving ceremony yesterday.

“This award is just a stepping stone to something great,” Naivalurua said.

“And I thank the school for having confidence in choosing me to represent the school in rugby and athletics.

“I believe the best way to keep a sportsman fit is through healthy living, hard work and determination.

“One day I hope to represent Fiji and be Flying Fijian and play for an overseas rugby club in New Zealand.

I believe if there is a will, there is a way.”

The Tavuki, Kadavu native represented Stella Maris Primary in rugby and athletics.

He thanked his coaches and parents for their support.

“Before I prepare for a rugby match, I will make sure to train hard, manage my time wisely and eat a healthy diet.

“I am ready to impress my coaches in high school.

He hopes to attend Marist Brothers High School next year.
