Our Chefs Promote Local Produce

Denarau Residential Beach Park in Nadi was abuzz with activities on Sunday as locals and tourists spent the day to enjoy and contribute towards the Fiji Chefs Table charity event.
A barbeque day out was organised with funfilled activities for children, special programmes, live entertainment and dancing shows.
An exquisite dinner prepared by a group of executive chefs was also held earlier last Saturday night at the Rhum Ba in Denarau.
The bi-annual event, initiated by First Landing Resort executive chef Darren Braddock and run by executive chefs in Fiji, aims at supporting Fijians through modern culinary education and use of local produce.
“The whole point of these charity events is to promote local produce, make the dishes look glamorous so that people focus on healthy habits in Fiji through the active teaching of young generations and also families coming together just to enjoy the day,” Mr Braddock said.
“This is also to support local growers/boutique suppliers with the purpose and use of their own varied produce.”
The target for the two-day charity event was to raise $80,000.
The selected charity bodies are FRIEND Fiji, Rise beyond the Reef, Colour Explosion Fiji, Western Musicians and Entertainers Association Fiji, Saint Mina Children’s Home, Sea Merci (Fiji) and ACATA.
“The event was supported by 40 culinary students from Fiji National University,” Mr Braddock said. The funds raised from both events will be donated to the nominated charities mentioned.
