The Vodafone Arena in Suva was a hive of activities on Monday evening as Veiuto Primary School students took to the stage to display dances from different ethnicities.
School dance display committee member Owen Ratumaikoro said the event coincided with the celebration of the school’s Golden Jubilee celebration.
“The dance display has always been part of the culture of the school because of the programmes that we have in school. It is also a way of how our students can express themselves through dance and show what they had learned from their music classes,” Mr Ratumaikoro said.
The theme for this year’s dance display is ‘Celebrating 50 years through Dance’.
“It has been part of the school’s culture ever since its inception 50 years ago, so this year it coincides with the 50 years celebration.”
Children from all grades displayed dances from the different ethnicities that made up the school.
“We have a variety of items to portray the different ethnicities that we have in our school,” he said.
Mr Ratumaikoro said the dance display generated a lot of interests from parents and students every year.
