Wrong Question In Opposition

A senior Opposition member got a telling off from a colleague when he asked him whether he was leaning more towards Government.

The interrogation-like question failed to impress the target who shot back and said: “Who do you think you are?”

He then uttered words which are not printable, saying words to the effect that he speaks his mind and he is not a yes-man.

The questioner did not expect that kind of response and was utterly humiliated. The exchange outside Parliament after the Budget debate highlights an under-pressure Opposition that is struggling to match Government performance.

Travel time

Interesting too to watch who is getting the overseas parliamentary trips on the SODELPA side.

Some seem to be more in favour with the Opposition leadership than others.

Or is it being wooed?

Opposing camps

Government and Opposition MPs attending a climate change meeting in Nadi  yesterday had no problem mixing after the just concluded Budget debate.

But the Opposition MPs on their own were sticking to their different groups, the reformers hanging together and the old guard keeping a distance.

They were probably discussing what is likely to happen when SODELPA’s management board meets tomorrow to discuss the Gaunavinaka inquiry report.
