Waisale Serevi believes there is nothing to celebrate after the Telecom Fijiana side secured a spot at the 2016 Rio Olympics last Sunday in New Zealand.
The Fijiana side walloped Samoa 55-0 in the finals of the Oceania Women’s qualifier earlier this month.
Speaking to SUNsports from Seattle, the 7s maestro said the Fijiana side was not tested during the Oceania qualifiers but the real test will start from the series starting with Dubai 7s next month.
“The women have just qualified; they have been playing well with former coach Iliesa Tanivula in the past months and I’m so happy now they have qualified for 2016 Rio Olympics,” Serevi said.
“There was no competition for the Fijiana team in the Oceania qualifiers.
“There is nothing to celebrate yet but this is where hard work, dedication and sacrifice will start,” he said.
He believes consistency will be the key.
“It’s important now for the Fijiana to maintain consistency, this is always the issue but I hope they will continue to do well,” he said.
