To have achieved the Outstanding Islamic Dux award for the year 2015 was a proud moment for Zaira Shaazleen Bibi, a Year Eight student of Makoi Muslim Primary School.

“I think it is really important for students to learn their mother language because it gives them their identity,” Bibi said.

“Learning Urdu has given me my identity and I would like to encourage students who are not taking it as a subject

“Taking Urdu as a subject has taught me more about Islam and now I can relate to many Islamic practices.”

Zaira Bibi was very proud after receiving the awards ;she dedicated her achievements to her parents and teachers who had supported her all throughout.

“I am so proud of myself and I would like to thank my parents who have helped me get this award today,” Bibi said.

“I would also like to thank my Urdu teacher Maulana Mohammed Feroz who has taught me so well.”

She also received the prize for impromptu Zonal and National Urdu award in the year Eight category on Tuesday

The school held their annual prizegiving day on Tuesday for students from years one to eight.
