Saimoni Tuinukudua aims to don the national rugby 7s team jersey in future.
“I always love sports but that does not deter my studies as I manage to balance it well and I worked so hard in order to gain success and to be named the best sportsman for the year 2015 is just a way to go for me,” he said.
The year 13 student of Ratu Sukuna Memorial School received the best sportsman of the year award during the prizegiving ceremony yesterday.
The Nauluvatu, Nakelo, Tailevu lad plans to achieve more than his elder brother who is currently a member of the Under-20 Tailevu rugby team.
He is the second eldest of three siblings.
“I thank the Lord for his protection and blessings and my parents for their support.
“I always aim to achieve higher things and one of them is to get in to the national team and become the first member of my family to don the national jersey,” he added.
He plans to further his studies at the Fiji National University next year.
