Inspired by her brothers, 18-year-old Airini Lomaloma wants to be like them in future.

The Year 12 student was over the moon when she received the sportswoman of the year award during Ballantine Memorial School annual prizegiving yesterday.

“I learn how to play rugby from my two brothers Waisea Nayacalevu and Avenisi Vasuinubu,” she said.

Nayacalevu and Vasuinubu, both former national 7s reps, are playing rugby in France.

Lomaloma represented Fiji in rugby during the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa this year.

“I am feeling very honored and proud after receiving this award,” she said.

Apart from rugby, Airini loves athletics.

She said her family members were really supportive towards her rugby.

“I want to be one of the best woman rugby players in Fiji,” Airini said.
