Sabeto Murder Case Adjourned

The State and the Defence in the case against two juveniles charged for murder have sought time from the High Court in Lautoka to respond to bail submissions.
The first-accused, a 19-year-old, was represented by Legal Aid Commission lawyer Roneel Kumar while the second- accused, a 16-year-old was represented by lawyer Kemueli Tuinidau.
The accused persons appeared before Justice Aruna Aluthge each charged with one count of murder and one count of theft.
The two are alleged to have murdered mechanic Reginald Singh, 29, on November 6.
Mr Singh was found dead in a cane field in Masimasi, Sabeto, near his home.
Both accused were later allegedly found with Mr Singh’s car in Sigatoka and taken into custody by Police.
The State prosecutor said he had filed the response for Mr Tuinidau’s bail application but Mr Tunidau has yet to file his response to the prosecutor’s objections. Mr Tunidau has requested time to file his response as he had only received the response yesterday.
The State prosecutor also requested for seven days to respond to Mr Kumar’s bail application.
Justice Aluthge ruled that Mr Tuinidau’s response to the state prosecutor’s objection to bail to be heard on December 1 separately and for the full matter to be called for hearing on December 9.
