20 From Ra Front Court

Twenty people appeared at the High Court in Lautoka for sedition-related charges on Thursday.
The accused persons include Timoci Nacolatabisa, Isireli Serewai, Joseva Caucau, Mosese Tawake, Filimoni Naloga, Isaia Driu, Ilaitia Korolala, Rokoua Duatini, Semi Uqeuqe, Samuela Nabenia, Penasio Manasa Luqa, Viliame Baravilala, Apimeleki Waicolo, Sanila Mariqana, Inoke Navunilagi, Tomasi Madigibuli, Livai Talemaicakudrove, Peceli Nayadra, Solomi Serau and Tomasi Malumu appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe.
The group are charged with one count of sedition contrary to section 67 (1) (a) and one count of urging political violence contrary to section 65 (1) (b) of the Crimes Decree 2009 and were represented by lawyer Mark Anthony of Aman Ravindra Singh Lawyers.
The court heard that the accused were initially part of the Ra 44 sedition charged where three were on bail while the other 41 were still being remanded.
Mr Anthony had filed a bail application for his clients and the State prosecutor requested for time to respond to Mr Anthony’s bail application.
Justice Rajasinghe ruled for the matter to be adjourned to December 1 for the bail hearing.
