LTA reshuffle starts next Monday: Kumar

There will be a major reshuffle at the Lands Transport Authority (LTA) next Monday, says the Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport, Parveen Kumar.
“I can assure the entire country that LTA will see a major change come January and this starts on Monday,” Mr Kumar said during the launch of Shore Coachwork at the Shore Buses Limited’s depot on Thursday in Lami.
Mr Kumar said he had given a directive to LTA to improve its customer service, extend opening hours and operate on Saturday.
“I gave them time until December – they have failed,” Mr Kumar said.
He said his Ministry had been receiving complaints against the quality of service provided by LTA.
“We are in business, we are not going to see and turn a blind eye to that.”
He said come January, there would be a major reshuffle in LTA operations because he wanted to see ordinary Fijians happy.
He said reshuffling the system from next year would provide a platform free of burden for investors to invest.
“The major reason why he wanted to reshuffle the operating services was to reduce the burden on investors. We cannot go out and say to the public that we would like to promote this, or we want to promote that when on the other hand, our entity and our departments have failed.”
He made these remarks after the chief executive officer and managing director of Shore Buses Limited, Jasper Singh requested LTA to operate longer hours.
