Nakasi Lions Ready

President rests hopes on national reps
Cecil’s Nakasi Lions Football Club will be banking on their national reps to win the Rooster National Club Championship Southern Zone competition at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.
Making their debut in the two-day competition which starts today, club’s president Chand Sharma said the team look forward to the challenge.
“Our preparations for this tournament have been going really well, players are excited and looking forward to the first game,” Sharma said.
“The good thing about our team is that the boys have been together for a long time and have been playing since the beginning of the season.
“They know how each other plays and they have that bond which I believe is very important for any team if they plan on winning.”
Nakasi Lions includes three Vodafone Fijian U23 players Garish Prasad, Setareki Hughes and Tevita Waqanivalu as well as three Vodafone Fijian U17 players Bruce Hughes, Simeli Batiratu and Nikhil Prasad.
Sharma said the experience of former U20 layers Jone Kaloutagi, Mitieli Namuka and Roneel Ram will be an advantage to the team.
“We have a good balance of players, we have been undefeated in our local league and that alone is enough to give the boys an extra boost,” he said.
“The presence of our senior players will play a huge part because they have been in big competitions and know what to expect.
“We aim to put on a good performance and win this Southern League.
