Race Rescheduled To Next Week Sunday

Hello fellow car lovers. It was a bit unfortunate that we had to postpone the race last Sunday due to the unfavourable weather conditions.
Everything was in order – all the logistics – the entire hard yard was done but we had to cancel because of the bad weather.
Bad weather is something which is beyond the Fiji Car Club executives control but we do have some good news.
We will now reschedule the race to December 6 which will be known as Fiji Car Club Koffina Quarter Mile Drag Race. All categories will be the same.
Obviously as stated earlier on – this will be the last event for the year. We have surpassed our expectation of eight events – this will be the ninth this year.
This is the most in the history of Fiji Car Club in a single year. This attributes to the hardworking executives of Fiji Car Club and we promise to continue the same tradition next year.
Something for the West
Next year we had promised the Western side people a car show. So we will go back next year and do a car show in Western soil.
We are liaising with proper authorities to organise a ¼ mile drag race in Western soil.
We will confirm the dates and venue once we have received a confirmation from the relevant authorities.
New sports
Off road track is something new that we would like to start off next year.
We have been planning this for the past five months and we are hoping to have our first off-road race as early as April next year.
Again this is a very exciting type of racing.
It is a different level altogether where a track will be made for 2-wheel drive vehicles and also for 4-wheel drive vehicles.
We are looking for some sponsors to do this off-road track. I urge the motor industry in Fiji to come and support Fiji Car Club in this new venture which is off-road racing.
Concluding on a high note
Overall, I would like to acknowledge the spectators presence during all the events where the numbers have been great this year in all events.
We have had record number of spectators coming in all for all events. Just for the record, we had 800 spectators that watched the drag wars.
For me as a president of Fiji Car Club, it made me proud to see such a large number of spectators coming to a event organised by the club.
We hope that same amount of spectators come through our gates on December 6 which again will be the last event for the year.
Lastly, I would like to thank Ashabhai and the entire management of Ashabhai for the continuous support they have given to FCC over the years.
They have given $10,000 alone this year, and this shows the level of commitment Ashabhai has in promoting motor sports in Fiji.
Again I would like to request local car dealers, either new or used car dealers, to come and support the Fiji Car Club.
At the end of the day, Fiji Car Club is promoting safer driving and better driving skills.
We should all join hands together to reduce accidents especially those that have causalities. Together we can stop major road accidents from happening in Fiji.
Raizal Haniff is the President of the Fiji Car Club. This will be his regular feature in our Sun Wheels to keep readers updated on the latest from the Fiji Car Club.
