Thirteen-year-old Litiana Naivalu shed tears of joy when she received the Dux Award at the Marist Convent Primary School Annual Prizegiving in Lami on Thursday.
She received the award for scoring the highest in Basic Science, Mathematics and Health Science. She also received the Advance Award and the award for being one of the top students in Year 8.
“I am so thankful to my mother for supporting me towards my education. It was not easy to get this Dux Award but I worked really hard for it,” she said.
Litiana said she was encouraged by her mother to work hard and was happy to receive the Dux Award.
“My mother always encouraged me to work hard and I will excel in future.
“My parents are always supportive towards my education,” Litiana said.
She said she will join Labasa Sangam College next year and aspires to become a doctor when she grows up.
Litiana’s mother, Wani Naivalu, was emtotional when her daughter received the Dux Award.
“I am so happy to see my daughter receiving the Dux Award,” she said.
