Uzma Aalima Azmi, was her mother Rozeena Begum’s star after being named the dux of Nadi Muslim Primary School last week.
Uzma also received a prize for scoring the highest marks in her Year Eight class, certificates of Distinction in Fiji Mathematics Competition, Distinction in Islamiyat written quiz and gold medal in Urdu and Islamiyat studies.
She was also awarded a certificate for her contribution towards the school’s student council and as a prefect.
Uzma said she wanted to be a scientist one day. She will attend Nadi Muslim College next year.
She said: “I thank my teachers for imparting knowledge to me since I started in kindergarten until my Year Eight education.
“I thank my parents, especially my mother, for their continuous motivation and encouragement and I hope to make them even prouder in my high school achievements.
“My mum has always been my inspiration and she always challenged me to do my best.”
