An expectant mother, who was involved in the ambulance accident in Ba last week, lost her baby last Saturday.
Police spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said the 20-year-old woman was still admitted and is recovering at the Lautoka Hospital.
She was being transferred from Tavua Hospital to Lautoka Hospital when the ambulance she was travelling in got involved in an accident in Ba.
“Post mortem examination results revealed the cause of death for the baby was asphyxia and prolonged second stage of labour,” Inspector Sokomuri said.
“The driver of the ambulance is also under investigation because it has been alleged that this is the second accident he has been involved in.”
