Bua Provincial Wins QCC Award

The Bua Provincial Council has set a good example for all other 14 provinces in Fiji.
Their recently-launched website, which has been recognised as the first for the provinces, walked away with the best Quality Control Circle (QCC) award from the iTaukei Affairs Board.
Board media liaison officer Alipate Natoba said the QCC was a tool for improvement that helped in policy proposals and designing of Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
“Each year since 2008; QCC involves the 14 provinces in Fiji, Ministry of iTaukei, and TAB in productive brainstorming of general topics to help management decide on policies,” Mr Natoba said.
“We give out reality issues such as lack of technology expertise within the province, filing process management, lack of communication skills, disaster management issues and many more whereby participants find the solutions and give recommendations that help in the management’s decision-making process.
“QCC is also a progressive work programme that is set to identify the root solutions for common issues, and ensures staff productivity after a day’s work.
“Staffs are empowered to look for solutions not probe about budget allocations and funding.
“In fact QCC saved $10,000 in 2010 in terms of its budget allocation due to the productive solutions that were emplaced by the provincial circles,” Mr Natoba said.
Roko Tui Bua, Rupeni Kunaturaga, said: “The website promotes tourism and boost economic development. It would greatly enable students to access information on Bua history and its people.
