Attorney-General and Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says he will look into a claim of alleged sexual abuse and Police inaction.
He was responding to a complaint by a man who said: “I had lodged a complaint to the Police against a man who sexually abused me in 2013.
“Until now my case remains unsolved as I was told that they don’t have any record of my case and no files were found.
“I am depressed as I have lost a lot of money in trying to get the perpetrator behind bars and I constantly see him on social media which haunts me.”
The discussion happened when Mr Sayed-Khaiyum was at the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre/UNDP/Australian Embassy Youth Dialogue on violence against women at the Southern Cross Hotel in Suva yesterday.
