The Acting Prime Minister and the Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, while acknowledging the Nadroga Rugby Union urged everyone to work as a team. Like Nadroga.

He said the Nadroga rugby team had become quiet symbolic with a particular level of tenacity, a particular level of consistency and strength of a number of years of victories.

“This is indicative of the level of commitment that you have within the management, the coaching team and of course rugby has a very much community aspect to our lives,” he said.

“The people of Nadroga have rallied behind the Nadroga rugby team to be able to achieve what they have achieved so far.”

He said the reality of having such success was through teamwork.

“Being used to demonstrate to the rest of the country as to when you have teamwork, you can be extremely successful,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said.

“Not just in rugby, not just in soccer, or in sports but indeed as a country, whether you are in a teamwork in civil service, teamwork in your company, with respect to your economy so if we have team work, we can achieve so much.”

He said this was what the Prime Minister spoke constantly about, that is Team Fiji.

“We should be able to harness the success in rugby and the team approach in all aspects of our lives,” Mr Sayed-Khaiyum stressed.

“Success of individual, success of communities, in our homes and our country, the FijiFirst government has recognised that sport plays a pivotal role in our economy.

“Thus the zero-rated VAT on rugby boots and various other sporting activities and procurement.”

He congratulated the Nadroga rugby team and said they were an inspiration to follow.

The event at the Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort was sponsored by Tappoo Group, Outrigger Resort and BLK.
