Special Administrator for Labasa and Savusavu Town Council Vijay Chand yesterday welcomed the revival of boxing in Vanua Levu.

This was after champion boxer Joseph Kwadjo and Westwood Boxing Promotions promoter Praneel Dass visited Chand to check the facilities and meet businessmen to discuss about sponsorship for the December 19 programme at Subrail Park.

“I am pleased that the Westwood Boxing Promotions is in the North to help promote boxing,” Chand said.

“The Labasa and Savusavu Town Council welcome the idea to collaborate with them since it would be good for the economy and even the tourism industry.

“Rarely do we get an accomplished boxer such as Kwadjo to visit the North.

“I believe his visit would generate  interest for people in Vanua Levu to be at the Subrail Park on December 19.

“We have set up a team to promote more boxing in the North as we look for sponsors because the more quality sponsors, the bigger and better the event would be.”

Meanwhile, Dass was grateful to the Minister for Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou and Assistant Minister Iliesa Delana for their  support.
