Residents of the Senior Citizens Home in Samabula will have a memorable Christmas this year, thanks to three Canadian couples.
They are former Fijian citizens and this week they donated $2270 to the home.
Home officer in charge, Miriama Tavitani, said the gesture would see a merry Christmas to the residents.
“We will have a great Christmas party for the residents and present them with a gift each sometimes next week,” Ms Tavitavi said.
The couples – Parmendra and Angela Narayan, Pravin and Sangeeta Kumar, Sheree and Debbie Chandra – returned home from Vancouver this week.
They help the Home and the Dilkusha Methodist Home annually.
Mr Chandra said: “We had promised the Home that we will return and that was why we are here again.
“This is one of the things we do that make us feel good and the Samabula Senior Citizens Home is not the only place we visit during our stay in the country. We will go out to the West and help other homes too.
“Praveen and Sangeeta did a fundraiser in Vancouver and we donated the money here. This is for the goodness of other and from the goodness of our hearts,” he said.
