Shania Shikha Chaudhary said she was relieved that her hard work throughout the year has finally paid off.
Shania was named the school dux of Lautoka Arya Samaj Primary School during the school annual awards day last week.
“I am really happy and excited about it, it was a bit hard preparing for exams because I studies late at night and woke up early in the morning.
“My parents were really supportive, they used to wake up with me and I guess that’s what motivated me to study harder,” she said.
The Year Eight student plans to attend Tilak High School next year.
“I want to thank my class teacher Mr Kumar and all the other teachers of Lautoka Arya Samaj Primary School for playing a part in my success,” she said.
Proud father, Sunil Deo Chaudhary, said he was equally happy about his daughter’s achievement.
“I am very happy because she is our only child and we always try and support her in whatever means we can because we really want her to prosper in her career.
“She wants to become a doctor, so we planned to help her achieve that and even though she had struggled due to the family having to move from Labasa but she managed to adapt well and pursue her studies,” Mr Chaudhary said.
