The Vodafone Fijian Under-20 rugby side is a step away from qualifying for the Junior World Rugby Trophy in Zimbabwe next year.

The Salimoni Ravouvou-coached side thumped Papua New Guinea 63-0 in their first match and walloped Vanuatu 110-6 in the second match on Tuesday.

Fiji will play Tonga in their final round on Saturday. The Fijians will be tested by the Junior Ikale Tahi who are also determined for a spot in the JWRT in Zimbabwe next year.

Fijian captain Isimeli Naivaludua said despite winning their second match, the challenge will come from the Tongans.

“We’re pretty happy with our win so far,”Naivaludua said.

“We have the Tongan team to play on Saturday and we know that they have the size in the forwards.”

The Moala, Lau native said to be given the chance to captain the Fiji team was a blessing.

“I am blessed to be part of this team and we have known each other very well in the last couple of weeks we’ve been together.  But we still have a lot to learn.

“Discipline is important and we need to make sure we don’t commit mistakes that could prove costly for us.

Team manager Taniela Domoni said they still have to work on before they face Tonga.
