Maulana Hussain Khalid was proud of his son Ubadah Bin Khalid after he received  the sportsman of the year award during the Drasa Muslim Primary School annual prizegiving.

“I’m very happy about my son because he balances his academic work and  sports very well,” he said.

“He usually studies at 5pm every day after school and likes boxing, sports and swimming. In fact he is quite talented.”

He said his son aims to represent Fiji in soccer.

“He also wants to be a priest and he plans to join his elder brother at Lautoka Muslim College next year.

Bin Khalid’s sporting achievements include being part of the school’s Under- 14 soccer team for the Fiji Primary Schools Inter-District Championship. The Year Eight student credited his achievement to his elder brother.

“My brother is my role model and he has helped me a lot in my school work,”he said.

My teachers and parents helped me succeed.”
