Ryan: Crisis If We Lose

Head Coach wants to win Dubai and Cape Town tournaments

Vodafone Fijian 7s head coach Ben Ryan aims for a first back-to-back win in the World Sevens Series.

Ryan is confident of knocking off Dubai this weekend and the inaugural Cape Town Sevens in South Africa next week.

In an interview with Emirates 24/7 Ryan mentioned the importance of a win this weekend.

“Everyone back at home in the islands expects Fiji to win a gold medal in eight months time at the Rio Olympics,”Ryan said.

“If we lose the final this weekend by a point, there will be crisis.

“Fiji has never won back-to-back tournaments in the World Sevens Series and that’s our goal.”

The Fijian coach said they had bigger goals this weekend.

“We played well in the last few tournaments and we have prepared very well.

“Fiji has never won an Olympic medal of any colour. It has suddenly lit up the possibilities,” Ryan added.
