Radrodro Gets Top Award

Eremasi Radrodro received the Overall Player of the Year award during the Nadroga Rugby Union awards night at Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort and Spa – Yanuca Island on Wednesday.
He was also awarded the best player in the HFC Farebrother-Sullivan Challenge. He was not carded throughout the season, a feat quite unique for a rugby players playing in top competition.
The 28-year-old flanker said the key to success was being a good sportsman.
“I had not expected to get recognised for my performance because all our players are good,” Radrodro said.
“But I’m glad to receive the awards. It is indeed an honour especially when you know there are other better players in the team.”
However, he said, this was only possible through sheer dedication, hard work and sacrifice.
“I am humbled to be the player of the year because I’ve really done my work well and this also comes by being a good team player, good sportsperson,” Radrodro said.
“All sportsperson should play clean and safe games because that’s symbolises a good sportsperson.”
He developed an interest in rugby when he was 16 years old.
He was encouraged by the words of wisdom of the chief guest and Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
“I agree with Sayed-Khaiyum that we need to work as a team to achieve success,” he said.
“Not only in sports but in all aspects in life so that we can all together move forward as a nation.”
Radrodro thanked all his team members, God and his parents for their continuous motivation and support.
