The Bainimarama family has acknowledged the support and messages of sympathy received since the death of Ratu Meli Bainimarama.
Family spokesperson Inoke Bainimarama said messages of condolence and support had come in from family and friends including the Speaker of Parliament and members of the House, diplomats, Government ministries and agencies.
He said traditional delegations had also presented their ireguregu yesterday.
The head of the Yavusa Ratu clan in Bau, the Roko Tui Bau, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi, yesterday presented his ireguregu before leaving the country for Nauru.
“He left for Nadi soon after his presentation,” the family spokesperson said.
Also yesterday, he said Fijian students studying in Malaysia from the vanua o’ Sawaieke, Gau, sent in their condolence message.
When the Fiji Sun arrived at Ratu Meli’s residence at 16 Lovoni Road in Tamavua, a group from Kaba Village, Tailevu had just arrived to present their ireguregu.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama also arrived yesterday and was at Ratu Meli’s residence in Tamavua.
The funeral service for Ratu Meli will be held tomorrow at 10.00am at the Wesley City Mission Church, Butt Street in Suva.
