The Telecom Fijiana fell short of qualifying for the Dubai 7s Cup semifinals yesterday.

This was after the Chris Cracknell-coached side went down to France 19-12 in the quarterfinals of the Women Sevens Series. Telecom Fijiana had been unbeaten in Pool play.

France led with try and conversion from Christelle Le Duff.

Rebecca Tavo stormed her way to the try line to close the gap; a successful conversion by Rusila Nagasau levelled the score 7-7.

It was a tight game with both teams eager to score but mistakes kept them at bay.

It was France, which got the final say before halftime with a try from Camille Grassineau. They led 12-7 at halftime.

Fiji came back in the second-half and applied pressure on the French defence causing them to slip up opening up a gap.

Timaima Ravisa scored the second try for Fiji but a missed conversion by Nagasau tied the scores at 12-12.

A physical match but one in which France came out victorious from as Le Duff sealed the deal scoring and converting her own try to finish the game 19-12.
