Pilot Studies Included In TELS

Fijian students wishing to become pilots can now pursue their dreams, thanks to Government.
Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy said next year, these students could apply for assistance from the Tertiary Education Loan Scheme (TELS) to study and become an airplane pilot.
“Airplane pilot studies are very expensive in Fiji,” Mr Reddy said.
Mr Reddy said the course cost about $160,000 to $180,000, including accommodation.
“Poor families also have dreams to send their children to pilot training school, but they cannot afford it. We have opened up TELS where students can get access to TELS for airplane pilot training.”
The Fiji National University (FNU) School of Aviation website says the cost of tuition for airplane pilot training are F$51,000 for international students and $24,000 for local students.
